Are men and women in Kenya treated equally?

Why do so many feminists think women are not treated equally, and ignorantly assume that men somehow are?

  • If men and women are not treated equally, and there are no other sexes besides the two, then neither are treated equally to each other. Yet feminists think that men have the "fair" deal already. They ignore the fact that many men cannot enjoy the many privileges granted to women, but want those privileges men have to be granted to them with no interest in carrying the many burdens men face. I have never met an active feminist who has actually considered doing anything for the betterment of men, or who has the guts to call out women as often as men for sexism. They call it "gender equality" even though they really should call it "gender entitlement", or "gender supremacy" because it has so very little to do with actually fighting for equal treatment of men and women.

  • Answer:

    1) The basis of Feminism had to do with the fact that women had NO rights compared to their male counterparts. So women were not being treated equally. It is ignorant to assume that just because women were not being treated equally, men weren't as well. 2) I want to hear about these privileges that many women have, because over-all it's still a male-dominated society in most of the world. Men still hold many advantages. 3) If you're going to say something about "the oppressed state of men today", I want you to remember that pre-Feminism, men were in the same place. Nothing changed for men. The only thing that changed was that women gained rights. Now, there are a bunch of people who whine about men not getting rights...that they NEVER had in the first place and are blaming it on Feminism. Why? Because the men Pre-Feminism held the advantage. So any "burdens" they might have felt were justified. Now, since it's becoming a level playing field, they suddenly want to say something. There was an excellent quote that a guy Anonymous said on here. He said (and it's not verbatim) "What happens when the ruling group sees that the minority group is gaining rights? The majority cries out that it's being oppressed". That's what I see is happening. Do men not have rights that they need? Most certainly. Don't blame Feminism for it though. You're also not "victims of oppression". You weren't ever treated as second class citizens (unless if based upon race). You weren't ever told that you couldn't be educated or work (unless if based upon race). So you were NEVER oppressed (unless if based upon race). 4) Finally, I would like to say that it's usually guys shooting themselves in the foot. I hear a bunch of talk about how men are physically and sexually assaulted and how the government isn't helping them. While it's wrong, people CAN'T help these men who DON'T come forward and tell their stories. You know what I always hear when I tell men to SPEAK UP? "No one's going to care. No one's going to listen." Well then, no one's going to help. You can't blame people for NOT helping you...when tons of people don't know you need help. On top of that, a lot of men are still stuck in that idiotic mindframe of "I will be seen as a pussy because I got beat up". ....SO WHAT? There will ALWAYS be someone who thinks that. What does that stranger's opinion matter to YOU? You think Feminism got off the ground based off of a bunch of men who suddenly thought "You know...I think my wife should have a voice in what she wants to do with her life?" No. Men need to step forward and speak up. I'm not talking about bashing Feminism or women either (MGTOW and the MRA are NOT the way to go). They need to tell their stories. There needs to be more men who come forward about plenty of issues. I might disagree on some of those issues, but they need to speak up.

As a man, I honestly can't say I've ever felt disadvantaged due to my gender (although I must envy women being able to give birth to a child, despite the less pleasant aspects of it). Sadly, the same can't be said for many women. Could you give an example of what you're talking about?
