how to keep icons in listview in android?

Still not over Astrid

  • I loved Astrid and haven't found another app that does what I used her for. Also ps I am on iOS now. I am mostly missing the bit where I could create a task, assign an estimate of how long it should take and a deadline, and then track when I was working on that task. I have tried some other apps (and paper) for just 'to-do' items, and they're all ok (currently using Carrot), but I haven't been able to find something for iOS that does the whole to-do list thing plus time tracking. I've seen that Android has https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.tasks&hl=en_GB - but I'm in the appleverse now and I'm not finding something like that for iOS. I've looked at the blurbs and websites for a few task lists/project management things, tried Trello and a few others, and I'm overwhelmed and I hope I'm just missing something obvious. Wishlist: - to-do/task list - with recurring things - priority levels would be nice but not crucial - alerts that I can customise would be nice (ie day before, hour before, daily, keep nagging until I say I've completed the thing) - bonus points for pink octopus icons, but I am open to other things eg armadillos, marmosets, tortoises, etc. - ability to estimate the amount of time a task will require and track the time spent on an ongoing, longer-term task. (I don't want to track time for all tasks, most of them are just 'tick the box when you've done it' things.) Anti-wishlist: - I don't want it to talk to anything else - no syncing with google calendar or iCal or iCloud or dropbox - categories like home, work, exercise, fun, personal, etc. not required (I've got the paper-based http://davidseah.com/node/the-emergent-task-planner/ and http://davidseah.com/node/the-emergent-task-timer/, but I would like a thing on my phone.) Can you recommend something as much like Astrid as possible for iphone?

  • Answer:

I haven't used Astrid, so I'm not sure, but you might check out Kanban Flow. It does not have cute icons, though. But it will let you set tasks, estimated time, optionally track time through pomodoros, and alerts.

I feel your pain. I dearly miss Astrid too, though I miss it for other reasons - I've never found another to-do app that lets me assign a geofence to a tag.

Thanks, guys. I think I'm just going to test-drive using an old Android phone just for Tasks/Astrid Clone. I feel like a doofus, but I'm discovering that this might be worth carrying two rectangles for.

I also loved Astrid but am on Android. http://lifehacker.com/tasks-is-a-near-perfect-astrid-clone-perfect-for-your-1558741203 say that Wunderlist is worth a try on iOS? I really love https://www.ticktick.com/ which is available on both iOS and Android.

Wunderlist does most of what I used to get out of Astrid.
