    I lived on the 26th of a 50-floor building for 4 weeks: it was a reasonably nice, but not luxurious 1-bedroom apartment on 54th Street, paid for by the company. The rent was about $4500/month (I did some googling). So sure, it's possible, but you want a rational understanding of real estate in Manhattan: it is very expensive, and going up pretty quickly. They keep building higher and higher, and the folks who want to live there always seem to drive up the prices.
