What is the worst car ever made/sold all things considered?

I thought that lexus was decent looking, for a lexus. Lexus styling has never really won be over. As for those GMs, well, they say they were sold to fleet customers but really, who didn't own one? My parents had one, my girlfriend had one, many kids at school bought one as a first car, coworkers had them. They were cheap. None bought new, of course, since in my area no one had that kind of dough. So maybe they had been fleet vehicles previously. All we knew is that they were cheap and reasonably roomy and were useable in the snow with a set of all-seasons. I'd say the skylark of the early 90's was pretty bold in style. I'm still not sure if it's ugly or not. The ford tempo of the time holds a special place in my heart as being bad in so many ways. It was this powerless little rust-prone thing that broke down frequently and didn't have enough headroom in even the front (without the seat reclined to an unusual angle.) The interior sucked in every other way too. I can't think of anything that was good about the car. I nominate the tempo, and the cadillac cimarron because why the hell did it even exist? Also late 80's two-door regals, because the took the mean-looking thing from 1987 and in the next model year turned it this awkward dinky thing with one the crappiest engines they could find.

I kind of think all such questions suffer from "pyramid syndrome" -- the notion that the bottom of a quality pyramid is always much broader than the top. Take the Yugo... a flaming POS if ever there was one, yes? Was it worse than the Reliant Robin? Or the Chevy Vega? There's just so many bad, bad, bad things at the bottom of the pyramid. When I was a kid, we used to have "slow races". You stand next to your friend, and see who can go slower. This is dumb, right? Because there's no limit to how slow you can go, if someone brings you your meals and whatever. It's the bottom of the pyramid. Anyway, I dunno. But for sure, GM has produced more than its share of crappy cars.

I have two candidates. The first is the Lada. My parents owned one, brand new and then poured hundreds of dollars into keeping it running. It was a truly awful car and I was glad to see it finally gone. The second is the Ford Tempo. I had a used one back in the 80's and it stranded me more times than I can count. Again, hundreds of dollars spent to keep it running. I owned it less than a year and that was one long year let me tell you.

I'm totally ignorant about the 'all things considered' part of your question OS. I go by what I see. I also don't know all the names of the butt ugly cars but I will give you the general reason I dislike them. All my favorite cars are aerodynamic..sleek...slick. They look as if they are moving when they're parked. The ones I cahn't stend are the boxy or hunchbacked cars. The designs are uniformly hideous in my opinion. I cringe when I see them and avert my eyes. Yes. They are that painful to look at for me. Remember the auto show we went to years ago? Remember the Lamborghinis? That's what I like. My very favorite cars at the auto shows are the Concept cars which never get built for street use. They are just there to wow the he** out of everyone. Which they do. They are usually on rotating platforms roped off so the hoi polloi can't touch them let alone sit in them. Something out of a scifi flick! Why don't they build Concept Cars? Why go to all the trouble and expense to design and build and not make them available to the wealthy? It seems such a waste! Happy Monday! :)

I bought a Pontiac Fiero brand new. 6 cylinder engine. The engine had to be lifted out just to do a tune up. The oil reservoir didn't hold enough oil, causing fires. The car had serious blind spots when trying to pull out of an intersection. 4 disk brakes that didn't work in heavy rain. That last one almost killed me. I moved onto a Ford pick up after that.

Volvos. They handle like trucks, are underpowered for their weight and FAR too thirsty for a 4-cyl. The newer ones may be better, but up to and including the 850 they were garbage.

I once bought a '71 Vega new. It was my first car and a real p.o.s. Sold it after numerous problems and bought a Dodge van that never gave me one minute's trouble! Btw, the Vega 4-cylinder engine got 13 mpg. tops. Drove it in the mountains once and you had to cut off the a.c. to get up any kind of steep grade. It was a total GM rip-off!

I don't know, but I bet it belongs to General Motors.
