Anyone find it odd that states with backlogs of untested rape kits want to spend money drug testing welfare recipients instead?
-
In the case of rape kits we have evidence of a crime. In the case of drug tests we are looking for evidence of a crime. States that have drug tested welfare recipients have found an extremely small number of drug users. Less in fact than the percentage of drug users in the general population. We also know that it is not uncommon to find rapists have committed the crime of rape more than once. Testing could solve multiple crimes. So, what is a better use of taxpayer monies?

Answer:
No, I don't find it odd at all. It is perfectly consistent with the Authoritarian f***tard worldview. Processing rape test kits might implicate people with wealth and power, and we can't have that. Drug-testing welfare recipients only affects the poor/urban/ethnic...and who gives a s**t about them?

Kids die from drug overdosing.... Adults too. Most rape victims survive their attack. Why not do both? Its my tax dollars that support all that is wrong with welfare..

Solving rape cases doesn't save money and cut "entitlements". So I don't find it odd they would act like this.

Yes that is disgusting :(

No. The two have nothing to do with each other and have no correlation.

It is quite logical to test recipients of welfare to establish who the daddy is. That way the state can deduct the payments made to the mom for the kid from daddy's welfare check as a support payment that would otherwise be picked up by the taxpayer. Check out the Jerry Springer show, where the idea is to find out who daddy is through DNA testing. The purpose of going on the show is to have the tests performed to establish paternity. They always ask the man if he will take care of the kid if it is his. He always says yes, probably for a bonus for appearing on the show. That then gives mom the legal right to go to the state and get his welfare check.

Hello W: I dunno WHY right wingers HATE the Constitution so much... The Fourth Amendment is crystal clear on the matter... You can't search somebody unless you have probable cause. Applying for welfare ain't it.. excon
