Which country is surrounded totally surrounded by MILLIONS n MILLIONS n MILLIONS n MILLIONS of MUSLIMS MUSLIMS?

Allah’s blessings be upon you, Mike Pence “religious conscience” means we Muslims are going to town! What do you folks think of this?

  • I, along with millions of Muslims across the country, have to give it up for Indiana Governor Mike Pence and his merry band of liberty-loving Republicans in the state legislature. The “religious liberty” law they recently enacted may be causing an uproar, but for us Muslims, it means we can now finally impose sharia law in Indiana! Some might be asking, could Muslims really impose sharia law in some fashion in Indiana—turning Indiana into a mini Muslim caliphate? Well, the Indiana law doesn’t just provide “religious liberty” for Christians. It provides “liberty” for all faiths, and that includes us Muslims. (Yes, that shrieking sound you heard was from the Christian conservatives who championed this law intending it to truly only benefit fellow Christians.) So what does the law provide? Simply that the government can’t “substantially burden” our religious practice unless it can prove that doing so “(1) is in furtherance of a compelling governmental interest; and (2) is the least restrictive means of furthering that compelling governmental interest.” Bottom line: There are now so many things we can do in Indiana that we are not able to do in the rest of America.http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/04/03/next-we-muslims-bring-sharia-to-indiana.html

Hello W: What's good for the goose, is good for the gander.. I've been trying to raise that very issue lately, but there is nobody so blind, as those who refuse to see.. The example I used was a devout Muslim who runs a bodega, and REFUSES to serve a women who isn't properly clothed according to HIS deeply held religious beliefs.. Pursuant to the RFRA, if Christians can discriminate based on the Bible, why can't a Muslim discriminate based on the Koran? The answer IS, of course, he CAN. If that's NOT the imposition of Sharia law, I dunno what is. excon

Very clever; seems that the governor and the state are getting it in more ways than they ever imagined.

There's only one flaw in our Muslim friends' plan to bring Sharia to Indiana. If you look at the actual history of how RFRA laws have been enforced, there's a nudge-nudge wink wink that only socially conservative (Rich/White) Christians/Catholic "religious freedoms" will be upheld. That's the logical inference from the Hobby Lobby decision. When a couple of Native Americans were fired for testing positive for mescaline during an employer drug test (following using peyote for their religious ceremonies), the courts told them to pound sand. Most RFRA cases prior to Hobby Lobby similarly did not uphold defiance of civil law on the basis of religious beliefs. But when some Rich White Evangelicals said "Our corporation has religious beliefs about birth control methods in the US, but none about the abortion-promoting policies of China from where we import most of our crap", the (right wing Catholic majority) on the SCOTUS said "Sounds good to us!" I think Governor Pence's mistake was being a little too open about how the new Indiana RFRA would allow social conservatives to explicitly discriminate against Teh Gayz. Outside of the Bible Belt, gay-bashing is becoming increasingly unpopular (for goodness sake, IOWA...yes, IOWA legalized gay marriage). So the media backlash was stronger then I think Pence and his Merry Band of Bigots expected to be. Perhaps we should be grateful for their miscalculation. Had Pence and his fellow travelers been a little less eager to shout "We can totally discriminate against Teh Gayz now!", they might have been able to get their legal framework in place without the public backlash which ultimately emerged. Anyway, if our Muslim friends tried to do the things discussed in your link, our courts (full of GOP appointees) would find "compelling government interests" as to why they could not do so, just as courts did in almost every case except for Hobby Lobby.

Muslims don't impose anything on non-Muslims. If you say you are a Muslim and you act like an idiot terrorist, then that is what you are. I go to church with Muslims. I am not a Muslim. They are not Hindu. We all pray to the same God. So, how does that work, Mike? I know the for-real Muslims. They do not impose anything on anyone. They want peace at any price just like the rest of normal America.
