NRA speaker says Islamic no-go zones in the U.S.. What do you think of his blatant lies that stir us versus them thinking?

Author Steve Tarani said during a presentation in Nashville on Sunday that he has witnessed the alleged “no-go zones” — areas where police cannot enter — while shadowing a friend who serves on the Detroit Metro SWAT Police on a drive in Dearborn, MI. There is no factual basis to allegations that parts of the U.S. have turned into no-go zones that Muslim extremists had supposedly conquered — a myth that was spread by Fox News reports earlier this year. An enclave of Muslim people do live in Dearborn, MI — more than 30 percent of the population is Muslim — but despite the rumors, the city is not governed by Sharia law. Residents of Dearborn are not exempt from state or local law, regardless of the religion to which they identify. According to the Daily Beast, the myth of no-go zones in the city is “a phenomenon that baffles Dearborn Mayor Jack O’Reilly.” “The people who perpetuate it use it for their own gain,” O’Reilly told the website. “There are certain sites and individuals who like to perpetuate fear of Muslims — the people who like to suggest Muslims shouldn’t remain in the U.S.” http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2015/04/14/3646567/no-go-zones-nra-convention/

The NRA is itself a religion. Look at the photo at your link. NRA guys in a circle, holding hands, like a tent revival meeting. The caption: National Rifle Association members hold hands during the opening prayer at the annual meeting of members at the NRA convention. The NRA would love to invent justification for a shoot-out with members of an opposing faith.

There may be a TINY element of truth to this assertion. In blighted urban areas in US cities, there are sometimes "no go zones" where the police will pretty openly admit they will not enter except under the most dire emergencies. Frequently what happens in these areas is a local drug-dealing gang takes over, floods the streets with its (armed) members, and establishes itself as the de facto microgovernment. It may also be that Muslim immigrants, being poor and probably discriminated against in other locales, end up living in these "no go zones" because they are areas where landlords desperate for tenants will offer low rents and no discrimination. Hence, Muslims could end up being a significant fraction of the population in these "no go zones." Of course, that doesn't mean that the Muslims control these areas or institute Shari Law, or any other nonsense asserted out of bigotry and paranoia.

I don't know about any Muslim no-go zones....but I do know there are areas where the police do not like to go. They are not Muslim but poor slum with violent gangs. East St Louis is one area.

He seems confused (probably intentionally). Sure there are no-go areas, and arab or muslim areas, but I've never heard of these being the same areas.
