What is the rotation and rotation period of the moon?

Answer:
The moon's period of rotation and period of revolution around the earth are the same. The sidereal period (the true period bringing the moon through 360 degrees of rotation) is 27.32 earth days, roughly. This is different from the moon's synodic period, which is the length of time for the moon to complete each cycle of moon phases. The moon has to move a little more than 360 degrees through its orbit around earth in order to reach the same orientation relative to the sun as when you start observing the phases. The synodic period is about 29.5 days.
