How do you calculate roofing materials - A roof footprint?
-
-
Answer:
You need to estimate the size of the roof in square feet. A bundle of shingles will cover 33 square feet, so divide the square footage of the roof by 30 and that's how many bundles of shingles you'll need. The extra 10% will end up getting used as starters and the cap. Shingling a roof isn't difficult, complete directions are printed on every bundle. But if you've never shingled a roof before you might want to pick up a couple of extra bundles. You can always return them after.
