What should I do my Graduation Project on?

What are the project ideas that could contain cloud computing, big data and the Semantic Web for my final year's graduation project in the CS department?

  You could try working on preventing cancer through immunization. There's a whole class of cancers that are caused by viruses, and susceptibility is often hereditary -- there's something in the DNA that the virus interacts with. Most of these cancers are untreatable today. If we could immunize vulnerable people, they wouldn't get cancer because they couldn't get the virus, and they wouldn't need treatment. There is almost no drug company research in this area because immunizing people effectively stops the cancer, and there's no money in that. There's money in expensive treatments for cancer. Solving this problem involves a lot of crunching of DNA sequences and understanding how viruses change DNA of the patient as the disease progresses. One person's genome sequence is about 1TB of data, so it's a big data problem. You need lots of compute and lots of storage, and so it's well suited for cloud computing. A lot of the people working on this are cancer experts, not computing experts. I expect they would like help to figure out better algorithms and approaches to crunching the data.
