Can you print vinyl from a normal printer?

Can you print on pressure sensitive vinyl with a laser printer?

  • Answer:

No -------------------------------- There's really no such thing as a definitive "No" or even "Yes" for an answer to this question. Your mileage may vary depending on the printer, it's toner composition, and fuser temperature. I've successfully laser printed onto colored signshop vinyl with a lexmark E330 desktop laser printer. The printer has a front feed and a rear straight through exit, this is important as the vinyl wants to curl when exiting the fuser. You just grab the hot vinyl sheet and lay it flat on a table and it will stay flat. The trick to fusing the toner solidly onto the vinyl is to create a blank 8.5x11 page in photoshop and re-run the sheet through the printer a few times after it's printed. This will run it through the hot fuser without adding anything to the page. After this the print won't come off unless you really try to scour it off. http://www.rippedsheets.com/faq/faq_24.htm
