What are some art/craft ideas?

As of 2014, what were the best frighteningly ambitious startup ideas other than the ones mentioned by Paul Graham?

  • In his essay (http://paulgraham.com/ambitious.... ), Paul Graham discusses several frighteningly ambitious startup ideas. Graham refers to 'frighteningly ambitious' ideas as: "ideas that are so big that they are terrifying. Not just because they seem like a lot of work, but because they threaten your identity. Ideas that say "even if you got me, you wouldn't know what to do with me." Ideas that are just on the right-side of impossible. This list reflects ideas with solutions to big, hard problems. Ideas either disruptive in nature, have the potential to take out huge bully companies that dominate entire markets, or solutions to problems that just seem impossible to solve." As of today, I'm liking personal drones, such as http://www.airware.com/ and http://matternet.us/. Imagine transporting goods yourself all across the country, or countries, from your computer. This augments a individual's capacity in such a way that powerful people must be scrambling to try to control it, as always. Related to the above theme of empowering people at the expense of powerful groups, how about http://www.stratasys.com/? I also think that driverless cars http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_driverless_car, home automation https://nest.com/, wearable technology http://reflxlabsinc.com/, and software and data-driven ways of doing "old" businesses such as https://www.wealthfront.com/ (investments), http://www.radiantlaw.com/ (legal) are interesting as well. The thing I like about all those businesses is that, just like most "Frighteningly Ambitious" startup ideas of the past, such as railroads, the car, the personal computer and the internet, they work almost as if they're giving people extra limbs: they build capacity where there wasn't any before, allowing we to do things that people that lived before it probably couldn't even imagine.
