What universities can I get in with a cumulative 3.1 GPA?

How do I get admitted into an MA in international relations (distinguished UK or U.S. universities) with a low undergraduate GPA?

  • I am sure that a  low GPA severely undermines my chances of getting into a masters programme. I also know that i am very capable of scoring higher had i been more focused on academics during my undergrad.  Although i have a GPA of 2.9, i refuse to believe that i am doomed and have absolutely no chances of getting into a masters programme for the rest of my life. How can i improve my application? What do i need to do before applying for a masters degree in my case?

  • Answer:

You might want to take a year or two and do something that shows that you are able to focus your attention and activities on worthwhile projects. Universities do not expect to see vast change between poor performance one year and excellent performance the next. They need to see some excellent performance in another area before they'll consider taking the chance.
