Answer:
To expand (concisely) on the other great answers to this question, I want to add: Build a life that encompasses a career and not a career that encompasses a life. That's it -- good luck.

1. Stop comparing yourself to your dad. He wasn't a "professional" at 17, either. It's good to be ambitious, but you have to find your own path and define what success means to you. 2. Work on your spelling. I don't say this to be rude, but when you misspell common words like "across", you come across as uneducated and unprofessional. Not the image you want to project. 3. Get a job. Start getting some work experience. No, you aren't going to be a top executive at 17, but if you can't stand the idea of working fast food or retail, mow lawns, walk dogs, deliver papers, etc. That will show you have drive and ambition.

The best way to learn success if you have no past experience, is to learn from someone who is already successful. Your dad has been successful for a long time, you can ask him to teach you the basic principles of becoming a success. Success is a mindset, it doesn't necessarily depend on what you do, but rather how you do it. Don't compare yourself with your dad, you are both different, but, learn from him. I am sure he can teach you a lot of things.

College is a great start point. As you have no experience at all, you must find knowlege somewhere. If you have no experience neither study, you have nothing at all and are only an arrogant guy who think you're better than your father but you're nothing at all. My own father studied only a little, because his father died when he was very young and he had to take care of the family's business. But I studied, even working since I was very young. It's almost impossible you be successful without study and experience. You must find both. Study you can choose if it will be through college, courses or other path. Experience is only possible one way: finding a job. And is easier to find a job if you're studying. As you're ambitious, start now to think about your personal brand. Ask your DAD regarding the same. Learn from his mistakes, if any.

Combine your interest in screenwriting and comedy into a web series. Write it. Produce it. Put in on Youtube. Start promoting it well before the release date by releasing snippits bit by bit. Hope you gain some traction. As far as public speaking goes, you'll have to establish yourself as an authority on those subjects. Write on Quora, or Facebook, or Medium, or start a blog. Again, produce video series for web distribution. Answer questions on social media. Do so with video often so people can see you as a speaker.

You do not seem to know what your interests are! Take the 16 PF test or the MBTI and find out what type of personality you possess. Then go through Psychometric Tests . Psychometric tests can measure interests, personality, and aptitude. Interest tests measure how people differ in their motivation, values, and opinions in relation to their interests. Personality tests measure how people differ in their style or manner of doing things, and in the way they interact with their environment and other people. Aptitude tests measure how people differ in their ability to perform or carry out different tasks. SWOT analysis will also benefit you a lot. Once you are prepared and ready, take the plunge. Your answers during interview will be more authentic. When you know yourself you will feel more and more confidence. No more hurdles for you!

Your problem is you are comparing your life and position with the ones around you. Please understand that no body lives the same lives. You will have a completely different life from your closest friend or even your brother(s) and sister(s). Secondly, If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there. - Lewis Carrol Don't worry too much about what you want to do in life. Perhaps you have already made a choice. If you want to think through all the practically then make a list of all possible options. Understand what it takes to get there. What are the pros and cons. If the pros are higher then keep them aside and think them over. This is such time and phase of life where a lot is possible. try asking your team manager or boss about their experiences. I am sure everybody have their story and some lessons of life to share.

Congratulations for having a job. There are many B.Tech. engineers are still looking for jobs. I understand that you are not satisfied with the current job or the salary pack. But you have a job and a salary. So you can invest a little on yourself to build a better career. First of all decide what you want to be. What is that you love to do as your job or profession. So that once you achieve it you will be happy about it. So consider your strengths and weaknesses and decide what you want to be. Set a target and willing to work for that. Continue in your job and study and master what is required to obtain a job in your dream area. You should be really good in that. Make sure you continuously read some articles about the area and you update your knowledge regularly over and above obtaining basic knowledge in that area. Once you are confident approach a company who need somebody of your skills and they will consider you for an interview and possible recruitment.
