My mind and body are deteriorating because of a herniated disc. What should I do?

My life has come to a stand still. I suffered three moderate herniated disc in the lumbar region during my gyming years two years back. I've gained 20 kg weight since. I started feeling pain in my hip for a long time before going to a doctor and getting a MRI. I'm not allowed to do any physical activity (by my father, he has also been a patient of lumbar disc herniation) other than walking. I feel he is right, I fear that starting running might jerk the already herniated discs to herniate more. If I travel too long I start to feel the pain in my hip. I'm totally cut off from all the fun stuff because of my disc herniation. I love food and because of this love I've been growing in size uncontrollably to a point where now I don't want to waste money to buy new clothes. Please advice me how to get my life to more positive outlook.

Get proper treatment - there are quite a few effective ones for herniated discs. Loose weight. Eat healthy. Shouldn't be so difficult after that.
