Ways to get reviews on a new site?

  • I am starting a niche price/product comparison website. However before I go live, I would like to already have some reviews for products, How do I get import reviews from different review sites? is there an API or should I parse the data, and then mention courtesy of - ( review site name ).   May be this would not get me sued? I have seen some new websites launched in beta phase and they have reviews of different users, I know they have imported it and I would like to also have at least a few reviews before I go live .   Some advice on how I should proceed would be helpful .

    I am not entirely sure why a competitor would allow you to use the reviews from their own site on your site.... and if you don't ask for permission in writing, you might be getting yourself into trouble. What kind of topics are we talking about? Why not just ask all of your friends if they could contribute something to your site before it goes live?

Give people some type of incentive to post reviews on your site. The online-marketing world is increasing using "gameification": http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/24/technology/all-the-worlds-a-game-and-business-is-a-player.html Users, for example, could register an account, and they'd get a certain number of points per review or some type of badger after doing a certain number of reviews. Without knowing more about your marketing goals and strategy, that's all I could say for now -- just think creatively. Good luck!
