If CS is considered as a modern core branch, then why is it that there are negligible CS-based jobs offered by the Indian government?

Also a CS student couldn't sit for IES? This actually puts a lot of people in a fix because if they get highly paid jobs in private companies, they don't get the comfort of government jobs and if they choose the comfort of government jobs they lose out on their choice branch!

Yes, I understand your concern and there are many students who express this, but I think the course curricula of CSE doesn't fit for the jobs which Government services require. No, you cannot go for IES with CS.
