Is drinking 4 cups of green tea every day unhealthy?
-
I don't add any sugar or sweetener. I just love the taste of pure green tea. Sometimes I'll have an additional cup of coffee throughout the day. I sleep just fine and the tea/coffee don't seem to affect my sleep cycle at all, possibly because I stop drinking early in the afternoon. I was just wondering if it could perhaps be overkill on the caffeine.

Answer:
Compared with black tea, green tea has less caffeine. Green tea is not fermented during its processing. The natural substance in fresh leaves are then kept, such as a big amount of tea polyphonel, and bunches of catechinic acid, amino acid, vitamin. Generally, I think 4 cups a day is okay. Everything should in moderation!

Not an expert here, but green tea has less caffeine than black tea or coffee, and definitely less then energy drinks. Four cups a day shouldn't be any concern, which you're probably finding already seeing as you're not having any trouble sleeping.

No, I don't think so. Green tea has many benefits, and many experts don't believe one cup a day will allow you to absorb all its benefits. Daily recommended intake of green tea varies according to various experts so I think 4-5 cups a day is fine, and I personally don't even have the discipline to do so! Good for you!

I would say no as long as the caffeine isn't disrupting your sleeping pattern or making you jittery. I would make sure the green tea is organic if you're drinking it daily.

I believe the math is 4 cups of green tea is roughly equivalent of one cup of coffee, so if you're drinking 4 cups of green tea and 1 cup of coffee everyday then that's roughly equal to 2 cups of coffee, which is within the recommended daily amount. Now, whether or not we should be strict in terms of 1 cup = 8 oz., that's something to take into consideration. Most people probably drink minimally 12 oz. for a cup/mug size...

I am drinking green tea up to 5 cups a day now. It is healthy and for long i suffered of dehydration due to the fact i drank little water and soemtimes worked in physically demanding jobs or/in indoor environments. Now i am trying to change my habits and drink more water and tea. Tea helps me a lot and let me sleep at night (unlike earl grey and others...) Green tea is in my oppinion one very good choice.

Green tea rocks! I drink around 4 cups average a day with no caffeine-related problems, green tea acts as a natural antihistamine, which helps me a lot.
