  • Answer:

Do they have degrees for just "sound engineer"? I would think you need to be an electrical engineer, and then get a job as a sound engineer. An audio and sound engineer does a lot of work with signal processing and filtering, by either writing software to filter the sounds, or making hardware for it. For instance, I took a 400 level course on digital signal processing, and for a project we used matlab to create an autotune functions. So if you like math and electronics, then it should be a good career choice. Ironically, I don't think you have to know that much about music, but I have no idea. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is where you should start investigating, that and Digital Signal Processing.
