How to get noticed as a singer?

Sing as part of a band, find some musically talented people at school or around the neighbourhood and write/cover some songs. Start playing for family & friends, maybe even a local event like a talent show and spread the word online. It'll start very slowly with only a couple of people genuinely interested but once they've told theirs friends about it then it'll slowly pick up more momentum assuming people are passing it on to others.

Okk , that's a good question, i recommend to you to try to be noticed out of any competition, and the best location will be youtube and 8tracks, i will suggest you to upload some videos for you as a channel on youtube, and promote them on 8tracks to get more visibility as well on some famous and big groups on facebook and google+ , that way you will be noticed especially from communities of music and good voices lovers.
