Is this a good singing range?

What vocal range am i and am i good for singing pop/alternative rock ?

  • So i was with my music teacher and he told me that i have a C3-A4 vocal range and i don't know what type of vocal range i am. Can somebody help me out ? Thanks !

  • Answer:

Non-classical singers shouldn't and don't care about voice types. Voice types only matter in classical music because it has a purpose there. Anyone with any vocal range is good enough as long as they can use it properly and in tune. True story. Of course with that range, you are able to cover most songs if that's what you're wondering about. And if you can't, you could transpose it down so you can.

That's your range. D3-A4. Range has very little to do with voice type. Your voice type really depends on your timbre, which is the color and quality of your voice. Only your vocal instructor can determine what it is.

Sounds like you are a tenor, and most male pop stars are tenors. Why don't you talk to your music teacher about this? He's the best one to give you immediate feedback and if you don't understand what he's saying, ask him to explain it a different way until you do. That's what teachers do. : )
