I suggest looking into the Bates system which emerged in the early 20th century to cure eye problems without using glasses. This system was published and described in the "Better Eyesight" magazines from 1919-1930 where Bates explained exactly how you can prevent and cure shortsight, farsight and various other eye problems, with case histories from his practice at the Harlem clinic in New York where he worked alongside his wife Emily. Download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/view/2lyy1jznmv1/Better_Eyesight.pdf Bates also published a book in 1920 that details his findings and explains the system: https://ia600308.us.archive.org/35/items/cureofimperfects00bateuoft/cureofimperfects00bateuoft_bw.pdf I suggest looking at the page titled "The Fundamental Principle" to start. You must learn to see with "Central Fixation" or seeing a very small area of what you look at with maximum clearness which is the way people with normal vision see. A Snellen eyechart comes in handy for practicing this so you'll want to print one and post it up in a good light to practice. Follow the book's directions as closely and carefully as you can. Also read Emily's book "Stories from the Clinic" where she explains how she applied Bates' system to many different cases. Very helpful: http://www.mediafire.com/view/?xuzjwmdgm1j Download Snellen charts from: http://www.mediafire.com/?kcyc65ayrwied Print and put them up permanently somewhere well-lit. The best practice conditions for each person vary so you'll want to experiment with distance from the chart, lighting and so on. If you've read Bates' original book and Emily's book but still feel confused you could have a look at the magazines for further suggestions. They have directions on page two of each issue and the very helpful "Questions and Answers" column. For quick results, remember the first step of Bates' system is to stop wearing correction permanently so you're going to want to do that to start with if you wear glasses/contacts. Then you want to devote at least an hour a day to practice using the technique you find most helpful. See chapter "Home treatment" in Bates' book. If you've never used correction then all you need to do is every day read the lowest line you can with each eye separately. The techniques include "Central Fixation", "Palming", "Memory as an aid to vision", "Imagination as an aid to vision", and "Shifting and Swinging". These are all covered in the book, but you could also have a look at the article in the magazines called "The First Visit" where Bates describes how he'd introduce patients to his techniques for the first time, and follow that. It's in the November 1921 issue. If you master any one of these techniques, they are very powerful. I've been in contact with one person who got to a degree of telescopic vision with the help of the memory technique and central fixation technique. With a little practice you're likely at first to have flashes of normal or improved vision where you suddenly see everything clearer for a short time. These flashes help to motivate you to practice more until you're permanently cured. This is a book from the perspective of another physician who used Bates' system over a number of years in his practice. There are many useful suggestions: http://www.mediafire.com/view/?ztwyhj23zkj Here is a collection of a few of Bates' papers where he first published his findings: http://www.mediafire.com/view/?u5zmmmttmzx Eye doctors are generally ignorant of these publications, so don't expect them to understand anything about the system.

It is treatable--it is the beginning of cataracts. The only thing is you have to be almost blinded by it before the doctors will operate. The surgery is a snap -1/2 hr. and you can see again. I had them in both eyes three years apart.

Kathy

You can't. You are stuck with them forever.
