  • Answer:

It does not always go away. Some may remain for life, while some may disappear. Larger ones may remain for longer. They are only a cause for concern if they increase abruptly in number. There are some procedures which remove floaters, but the possible and likely complications are by far worse than the floaters themselves (example: cataracts, retinal detachment, glaucoma). I'm sorry, there isn't yet a procedure to remove them that is safe and proven. Also, your diet is unrelated to floaters, so modifying it will be a waste of time, since it will neither improve it nor worsen it. It is also important you ignore those claims that modifying your lifestyle or buying people's products will improve floaters. If these were true, no one would have floaters because these 'miracle methods' would be used everywhere and be very popular.

Just learn to ignore the floaters in your eye. There are no ways to prevent them. *Moving your eyes up and down* just moves the floaters away from your direct line of vision. They are particularly noticeable when you are out in bright sunlight, looking at a white background or an open one-colour space.
