You are getting ptosis and amblyopia confused. They are not the same. Ptosis is the physical drooping of the upper eyelid where as amblyopia is a visual problem where due to a muscle problem, one eye is not aligned with the other causing the brain to try and process two images. It can't, so it choses to "shut off" one eye. Amblyopia has to be fixed as a child. If not, as you become older, it can't be fixed. Based on your picture, he has ptosis. That can be fixed with a cosmetic eyelift procedure.
