  • Answer:

Just ask to speak to the manager and tell them you are quitting and taking another job that offers more hours. Since you are not really on a regular shift you shouldn't have to give two weeks notice, a couple of days should be fine.

Break the ice a little easier with something like, "I don't think this is working out for me. I want to give you my 2 weeks notice so that you can find and train my replacement." Manager will (maybe) thank you for your honesty and candor. Also very possible they will let you go soon, maybe even that day. Whatever happens, remain polite, for the sake of your future.

Privately tell your boss that you would like to put in your two weeks because you are getting more hours at another job or you could make up something. (Honestly you don't have to tell them why). It won't be like you quit and go on your record, it will look like you took responsibility for leaving and decided to do the "grown-up" thing to do.

Just tell you boss you're putting you're "2 weeks in". Which means you can only work the next 2 weeks then you're done. Giving a "2 weeks" gives them time to hire and train a new person to fill your spot.
