    At your point in life, being a hospital volunteer is about as good as it gets. You also might look and see if there are any volunteer first aid groups in your area that provide first aid at public events. I'm not sure where you are, but St. John Ambulance is great organization to volunteer with.

Unless you're talking about custodial, no. I mean a certificate is not the same as a degree (doesn't take as long to get), but most medical-oriented jobs require some type of certification, which usually takes at least a month.
