  • Answer:

There are a number of programs designed specifically for OTAs who are seeking to become OTs. Some of these programs require a prior baccalaureate, and some do not. However, these are usually accelerated transitions to a MOT, designed for working COTAs in many cases. You might look into some of these programs and see if you would qualify for any with your current educational level, and what bachelors degree would be most helpful if you don't. http://www.aota.org/en/Education-Careers/Find-School/Bridge-Weekend/OTAs-Seeking-OT.aspx

As long as you take the PreOT classes, the major doesn't matter too much. Obviously, you don't want to add time to your studies, so map everything out. If Art History really is your thing and you can get the BA in your 2 years with the PreOT, then go for it! Good Luck!
