As long as the the controller is USB then it should be fine. If you want a wireless for use on the PC then there are adapters available. Keep in mind that the official or specialist controllers will usually have a longer life and will be more comfortable.

It usually needs to be the Microsoft one, as the 3rd-party controllers may not have proper drivers for Windows. The MS one is guaranteed to have drivers.
