Wired Xbox 360 Controller will not work on PC?

Okay, I have a working XBOX 360 wired controller and a working charge lead (USB Port to Controller). So I plug it in and it says device not recognised. It shows up as Unknown Device ...show more

It's just a little dumb because it doesnt apply the driver to it by itself, you have to tell it which driver to use. Right click the unknown device, click update driver, select Browse my computer for driver, let me pick from a list of device drivers, scroll to the bottom and you should find a Microsoft Common controller for windows. Select it and update
