    You don't need 500,000+ views and thumbs up don't get you money. Although I found the 50,000 view mark seemed to be some sort of threshold. Here's a video that talks about that sort of thing and why it can be a little frustrating starting out.

As mentioned above, Google: "YouTube Monetization". It's quite easy to make money on YouTube, but quite tricky to make very much. It's all based on how many viewers you rake over to your channel. I wouldn't worry about monetization until you really start to gain an audience, otherwise you make next to nothing. Like, a few cents ever couple of months... like me :(

It's all based on views, and ratings. You can become a partner in the Settings area of your youtube account. Based on how many views and thumbs up your videos get, you will get more money (More so views than anything though. Look at Pewdiepie videos.)

Simple answer: Search up "YouTube Monetization Program" on Google, but you'll need to have a good number of views (500k+) and subscribers to actually expect any money.
