  • Answer:

The only thing you're allowed to upload to YT is things that YOU created (it's called YOUtube) or things that your friends created and gave you a license to reproduce and distribute online. Everything else is illegal as a violation of YT terms of use, not to mention the copyright law, and bad manners (using other peoples' property without their permission). Downloading a copy of music from YT is illegal unless the copyright owners have authorized a "download" button on that video. Making a lyric video using a sound recording that you did not create, or one that you created without a license from the composer, or with the lyrics you did not create, without a license from the composer, is completely illegal. You can be sued for up to $150,000 for each one, your YT account suspended or terminated, and your IP address banned from ever connecting to YT again. Find a different hobby, such as creating your own original videos.

You need to buy a license from the record label that owns the song, assuming that record label actually licenses their music. They own the copyrights, not us. paying for a song, whether it be on iTunes, A CD, amazon mp3, google play, 8 track, cassette, vinyl, Whatever. the format is irrelevant. paying for music makes the buyer an owner of a copy for their ears to listen to, not the copyrights. Unauthorized distribution of copyrighted material is copyright infringement and that's illegal. Uploading over the web is a form of distribution and if the record label didn't give you permission, it's unauthorized. uploading to youTube is no different than burning people cd-r copies, it's piracy yes, your video can be taken off of youTube. yes you can get a copyright strike. Will you? That all depends on how the claim is when they catch you with their content ID system YouTube has a Content Identifier. Basically record labels give youTube their music so they can auto-flag user uploads that contain copyrighted material In some cases, the video only gets blocked in some countries and you can see other people's videos because they didn't get blocked in your country. it doesn't mean they're not in trouble. "Blocked in some countries" can change at any moment

No, you can download the song off the internet and no, I doubt you will get a copyright strike because YouTube's staff is err, let's say focused on flagging actual appropriate things.
