FIRST TATTOO ADVICE PLEASE READ?

  • I will be getting my first tattoo tomorrow and I'm very nervous....It will be on the lower right side of my stomach and i'm going to a professional shop to get it done. Any ...show more

  • Answer:

I like listening to music. I've never took headphones in usually they have it playing in the shop. But if you have any good music you like and have I pod or something woth headphones bring it. I don't like the sound of the tattoo gun. I also don't like watching them actually doing the tattoo so I don't watch I'll usually look around the room and daydream. I don't like needles so that's why I don't watch. Also take a soda with you they say getting tattooed can cause some people's blood sugar to drop I don't know why but they told me to bring a soda or something with sugar with me. Also when getting tattoo try to be as still as possible they hate squirmy people they are harder to tattoo. Well good luck and try not to psych yourself out to much it's not as bad as you think it is going to be. At least it wasn't for me. I didn't even feel some areas. Then again some areas did burn a little.

What's weird is my first tattoo was on the lower right side on my stomach too! Woah!! (It's the Sagittarius and Jupiter symbols created into one c:) Everyone has a different pain tolerance. You'll hear "No, it doesn't hurt at all," and "I will never get one again because it was so painful," and everything in between. It's a few tiny needles going in and out of your skin really quickly, it doesn't quite feel like butterfly kisses, but it definitely doesn't feel like having someone peel the skin off of your stomach either! For me, I'm a little in between. It only bothers me after a couple hours (your dopamine wears off, do some research on this if you like). I will tell you, though, that the closer it gets to your pubic area/crotch the more that sucker stings. Mine goes from above my belly button to below where my underwear sits. A lot of the time an artist will make you talk about things so you're distracted and you don't hear the buzzing of the needle much. Though sometimes you may get a non-talkative one, or they may be concentrating so hard that they forget to talk! Mine was somewhat quiet, but very nice, so I often talked at him even though he didn't respond - he just nodded, haha. I noticed that if I concentrate on the crazy vibrations going on throughout my stomach more than where the machine/needle is that it's a little better. Definitely eat before you go - low blood sugar and your body's reaction to trauma will make you feel like you're gonna pass out! Eat eat eat! Bring cold water with you. You're gonna sweat, because you'll be lying on your back; it's a natural reaction. Also take a jacket, because you'll get cold and it's good to have something to cover your arms while your tummy is exposed.

It's not that bad actually, people over exaggerate. It's not so much painful as it is irritating, unless it's in a spot with a lot of carlridge or bone, or veins thank, it'll be quite painful. Unless you can handle pain. It should be fine, if anything take a few shots before you go if you drink, and if you don't good for you (: just take deep breathes and relax. The more stressed out you are the more strain with be on your muscles and the more it'll hurt you.
