Why does back of neck and back right side head hurt so bad always?

  I am a migraine sufferer. They occur in one temple and are throbbing. Light hurts my eye on the side I have them on and I have to lay down in a dark place when the pain is severe. Some food triggers them for me like chocolate, citric etc. You have to do your research. Depakote prevented them tor years but I'm a senior now and had to lower my dose.. Tension headaches are on both sides. I have pain in the back of my head and neck from spinal arthritis and do exercises from a physical therapist which helps.. Medicines OTC and narcotics make me dizzy and injections are worst than the pain. I suggest you see a good neurologist and pain management specialist. good luck
