you should try to be more specific on the type of pain; musculature recovers when you rest it and stretch, and building up strength is a very effective preventative measure. when it comes to your back, your spine and spinal cord is right there. I would first think of a mal-aligned disk; they're more common than most people think. I would visit a chiropractor if it feels like it could be this. then there is nerve pinching or herniated disks; if it feels worse than just musculature like a sting or pinch, I would definitely go see a chiropractor.
