Since I am an American citizen, can I move to France and study law and become a lawyer there?

Answer:
If you can get a student visa you can study law in France (at a foreign student tuition that will be pricey). Once licensed to practice law in France you can return to the US and start looking for French employers willing to sponsor your work visa. This path would be the same regardless of where in the world you were from. Being a US citizen gives you no more rights to live in France than if you were from the moon.

Sure americans are SO special they do not have to follow any rules or laws regarding immigration what so ever, they can just swan over to any country and do what they like, a no need to learn the language as you can demand that they speak only English to you, if you say it really loud it helps them understand.

Say What, you being an American Citizen has nothing to do with moving to France to study law ... if France wants and allows you there legally than yes, you could go there ... but it will not allow you to be an attorney in America !

MAYBE If you can get into A University in France you Might be able to get into the Law Faculty. After that you MIGHT be able to get a student visa. The qualification to get one is more than just being United States Citizen. Of course you are aware that France has territory in North America too. Did you expect the Napoleonic code to be taught in English? You need very good language skills. French Law is much different than the common law based USA system from England. Canada uses it and common law. Now after Graduation you are first expected to go home. You might be able to get a work visa for France. You could also possibly go to other French Territories in the world where French law is used. Being European helps more. Being from the other parts of the world not so easy.

No, you would need a visa for studying and another for working.

America does not do 'dual' citizenships anymore, therefore, if you move to France (to live and work) - then give up your US citizenship and apply for citizenship in France only.
