    You don't have to have insurance to see the doctor when you are sick or for your regular check ups. You can visit the doctor and pay them the charges directly. I have heard of some provider groups trying out exactly what you are saying. However, since the ACA this option is going to be less viable because it won't comply with the new rules and regulations. Depending on your age and location you might be able to get a health insurance policy for under $100. In my state if you are under 30 that is possible.

Find a hospital with a walk-in outpatient clinic and pay a fee. You dont need insurance. Some clinics charge on sliding scale. A private healthcare exchange is fine if they offer the "minimum essential benefits" that Obamacare plans do.
