  • Answer:

Each online program is different, even if they are run by the same company since each state and district has their own laws and policies. Generally, you will do similar work as regular students, except it's done online. You may have textbooks and/or online readings along with assignments. Some require daily online class attendance. Others are more independent. Most programs have a lack of direct adult supervision. That can make it harder to stay focused and easier to procrastinate or goof around instead of getting your work done on time. Due to high teacher/student ratio in many public school online programs, there is a long wait for help which may even result in late work if you are unable to finish by yourself on time. Because of these problems, many online programs have low student outcomes such as high drop out rates, low test scores, and low graduation rates.

Hi! A virtual school or cyber-school describes an institution that teaches courses entirely or primarily through online methods. It has been suggested that a virtual school is an online learning platform offered by an educational organization whereby individuals can earn credits in the particular area of interest which can be counted toward graduation or advancement to the next grade. There are many different virtual school instructional and enrollment models. Instructional models range from fully independent self paced (asynchronous) courses to semester based virtual (synchronous) teacher facilitated courses. Class sizes range widely with anywhere from 25 students to as many as 200 students in each class section. Students keep in contact with teachers and collaborate with other students through web communication tools provided in the course delivery platforms.

Hello, I am currently doing online school, and to say the least.... I would not recommend it. At my school, the math is incredibly hard and boring, even though I'm a strong visual learner. While every online school is different, I can't count how many times I've suffered from depression during the course of the year. When I started the year, I was so excited and pumped knowing that I would have more free time, and as a result I fell behind really far and now I have to work in the summer. When I finally realized how far behind I was, I fell into depression for a long time. If you are not a visual learner, do NOT expect to do well in online school.
