What is Macbeth about?

I have to write a monologue on either Lady Macbeth or Macbeth himself. ive never written a monologue before so I have no idea what to do?

  A monologue just means one person thinking aloud. So just spend some time thinking about MacBeth. At the beginning of the play, he had it all - honour, fame, riches, a happy home, the love and gratitude of the king. But then he met the witches on the heath, and they promised him that he would be thane of Glamis, thane of Cawdor, and then King. And he fell under their spell. He murdered the king in his own home when he was a guest, sleeping. Then he murdered his friend Banquo but couldn't stop Banquo's son Fleance escaping. Then he murdered the family of MacDuff. He thought he could never be killed because the witches had told him "laugh to scorn the power of man, for none of woman born shall harm MacBeth". But when MacDuff came face-to-face and sword-to-sword, and MacBeth told him he has a charmed life, MacDuff says "MacDuff was from his mother's womb untimely ripp'd". (MacDuff was born by Caesarean section!) And so MacBeth is slain and his head fixed on the battlements. Great story. It would be a good and worthy monologue if you simply spend a few minutes just talking to MacBeth heart-to-heart, tell him what you think of him while you're telling the tale over as I have just done.
