If you are only an average student, you really are not equipped to compete internationally for places in "good" schools. They are good schools because they set high standards & only take very good students. Also, your planned path is stinkeroo. With the glut of MBAs already on so many markets, employers only want proven performers. If you're going for an engineering degree, & you really have the talent & desire to be a good engineer, you need to work 3-5 years. IF you earn a series of promotions and are deemed by your employer to be prospective managerial/executive talent, then do MBA or some similar degree. Employers have come to loathe creatures with back-to-back bachelor's + MBA, especially if they have never worked a day in their lives & remain completely clueless as to how to apply textbook-theory to actual day-to-day jobs. Rethink your plans. BTW, if you are graduating shortly, you already missed the boat for applying to Northern Hemisphere schools for 2014-2015 school year. You'd have to wait until Fall 2014 to apply for admission to 2015-2016 school year. Since you are only an average student, it might be worth your while to go to school locally, or get a job and see if you can actually do anything worth paying for. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but you are in serious need of a reality check. Mediocre students do not go on to university, especially when trying to compete at international levels.

The user "ibu guru" is not being harsh, he is just unaware of cultural differences. When one says they are an average student in India, it means they have a CBSE/ISC percentage of 85-90, which is good enough for US universities. You can apply to some pretty good universities if that is your score. Also, when people like "ibu guru" talk about mediocre students competing at an international level, they are completely unaware of the level of competition in India. The fierce competition here results in students who have below 95 percent not being selected in the best of institutes. The admission rate for IIT is 0.2%. Americans, believe it or not, Indian students attending American universities are those who could not get into the good universities in India. Here's a snippet of what I'm saying: Anyway, Chintan, although you can get into good US universities pretty easily, it is true that you have missed the deadline to apply for Fall 2014. You can either take a gap year, explore your options in Australia or look further in India. Good Luck!

I went abroad for my bachelors. I would recommend looking at various twinning programs. I did that too. I went through Manipal. I'll be happy to answer your questions. http://www.aayushjain.com/home/manipal-icas-review
