How can I apply for scholarship if I am a foreign student?

I'm an Indian student and wish to study engineering in a top foreign institute through a scholarship.How can I do so?

  Financial aid, especially for international students, is very limited and extremely competitive. E.g. in the US, only 6-7% of foreign students receive any financial aid through their US university. Best places to look for scholarships which can be used internationally is to win one of the many international competitions for high school students in fields such as sciences, math, music, etc. Of course, you have to win regionally & nationally to make it to international competition. Some countries, e.g. India, have scholarship programs for their "best & brightest" students to study abroad & bring back needed knowledge & skills for the country's development. Most Indian aid now seems to be for graduate students. Even with financial aid, you & your parents will need a great deal of money for your remaining school expenses, plus all your living expenses, transportation, etc. Proof of sufficient funds, including health insurance, and return transportation to your country of citizenship, is required to apply for a student visa. You neglect to mention any of your qualifications even to apply to universities abroad. In addition to top grades, test scores (e.g. SAT & TOEFL or IELTS), additional qualifications are important considerations when competing for admission to university, especially internationally. Studying abroad remains a luxury, and you pay for your luxuries. No need to go abroad for school as your own country has good universities. Also, the only place you can work your way through school is in your country of citizenship. 80% of American students work at least part-time to pay for school and/or living expenses. You can do the same, but only in your own country as foreign students are severely restricted or outright prohibited from working while on a student visa.
