How come certain stereotypes about race only exist in the united states.?

Ugh, reading this question and some of these answers give me a little hope. It's refreshing. I'm just glad that some people 'at least recognize' the stereotypes in our country. Sometimes I feel like we are oblivious to our own habits.

As far as I know, the USA is the only country where the government-paperwork asks you to state a "race". The rest of the world seems to acknowledge the scientific fact that "race" doesn't exist, and asks for your ethnicity or the birthcountry of your parents instead

Well for one, a lot of countries aren't as racially diverse as America. The ones that are probably have their own stereotypes that we don't know about.
