How can i eliminate my old yahoo email account?

How can I eliminate the latest spam advertising appearing as the last message in my yahoo email account?

  • this has recently started to occur and is an unacceptable nuisance - I will cancel my yahoo account if there is no way to stop it from happening

  • Answer:

Let me offer a way out of the sponsored advertisements, that work with the following browsers, and Adblock Plus. Firefox (and other Mozilla based browsers such as SeaMonkey and Palemoon), Chrome, Opera, or Safari. To block the sponsored advertisement, first click on the Adblock icon, it will give you a drop down in the drop down you will see block element, click on that. Next run the cursor over the sponsored advertisement will will become highlighted. Click on that, and another box will come up asking you to either add, or cancel. Nest click on add, and the sponsored advertisements will then be blocked, and you won't see them any longer. This is what I did, so as not to see those any longer. If you use I.E. I don't know if Simple Adblock will do that for you. Simnple Adblock was created to block advertisements on Internet Explorer, for those wanting to hide advertisements.

It's just another Yahoo scheme to increase advertising revenue with IE there doesn't seem to be any way to stop or delete them although they do self destruct those so called sponsored emails which is of course just a fancy word for Spam. I do have adblock but haven't been able to get it to stop this junk. It would appear that Yahoo cares less about anyone using their standard mail service probably trying to get members to upgrade so they can pickup an extra $50.00. I've stopped using my Yahoo email except with YA, newsletters and file storage and have started using hushmail and windows live mail both are spam free and free and neither sticks those obnoxious ads in your mail box.

Get a Gmail ;) But you should be able to ad it to a spam filter?

It's a free account, there is a price to pay if they choose to do that. You are free to cancel and get another account if you really find one or two messages that onerous.
