I don't live there, but I have visited Sydney. I wouldn't say it's better than London or even New York but it is pretty cool place.

Sydney in general has a much higher quality of life, but it depends on your individual situation; London and New York look very good on a doctor's or economist's CV, for example.

Yes it is. Big cities like London and New york are very hard to life in. Unless you are a billionaire you can't live in the city, you'd have to live outside the city. Sydney is much easier to live in. Even though the city is still bigger than other cities in Australia you can still live 10-15 mins away from the city. Every city in Australia is an easy living.

I've lived in each of those 3 cities for 6-9 months. I would never live in London again - Sydney beats it hands down on every front except historical sites and West End show type entertainment. London is grimy, expensive, overcrowded and far too many of its people are rude and downright unpleasant to be around. New York though is the most amazing city and leaves Sydney for dead except for weather and beauty but only if you have a decent income. You don't need to be a millionaire by any means, but you need to be able to afford to rent a decent apartment in the city itself to get the best out of it and you need a very good income to do that. Don't get me wrong, I like Sydney and would happily live there again but if you haven't experienced life in New York, you've missed out on something that's unimaginable to most Australians.

Sorry, not the odd man out here, but I have worked in all three locations, I am going to put my two cents worth in on this. Sydney does have a better quality of life. People talk about the Big Apple, and London, but are they talking about just a short three week visit, or did they work there and endure the day to day life. For a holiday prospective London and New York, your dealing with the novelty of it, Sydney however, your not enduring anything, I loved the setting, enjoyed getting up and heading to the office for the term I was there. Food, entertainment, relaxation, Sydney and I would say, and most of the other cities and towns in Australia have it over a lot of other countries that have been built up, hyped as a travel marketing continence, not so with Australia. What you see is what you get.
