Yes they will....assuming that the paperwork that was filled out in the hospital was received and processed. Go NOW in case it wasn't!!!

Yes, they should be able to find the status on his card and/or get a new one mailed. They should also give you the number so you can file taxes. If you can't get his number and you need the tax refund money right away you could file a return without claiming him and get part of your refund, then file an amendment after you have his SS# to claim the rest of your refund. Obviously this is more hassle so its better to get his number before you file, but its an option that I've seen people use.
