  • Answer:

No such thing as the Dream act, what you got was DACA and that is a 2 year do not deport card, no one knows wtf is going to happen after that point, but they will at least know where you are when they round you up. What you want and what you get is not the same thing and why should YOU after breaking the laws of the country get to be rewarded for your illegal actions

No such thing as the DREAM act, only DACA. You are not eligible for any type of legal status, let alone citizenship. Citizenship requires that you have a green card for 5 years before you can apply. Illegal aliens are not eligible for green cards. You are an illegal alien, always will be. Your temporary stay of deportation Allows you to live here, work and go to school for 2 years. The requirements for DACA and citizenship are NOT the same.

On behalf of my country I apologize to you for all the BS that's been circulated about the temporary deferment. It's been intentionally called things like "dream act", which it is not, "path to legalization", which it is not, and presented to the public as some kind of stepping stone to greater things...which it is not. DACA is a delayed deportation that gives you 24 months to work in the US before becoming eligible for removal again. If some kind of immigration reform passes during that 24 months you may be able to parley DACA into some kind of legalization. If nothing passes you'll be deportable again. There is no way to go from a DACA card to a green card.

The DREAM Act has been proposed many times in the past years and every time Congress has voted it down. There is no DREAM Act, and the way it looks it will not be proposed again. Whatever would have been covered under the DREAM Act will most likely become part of Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR). What you have is DACA, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, a program based on an executive order of the President that will protect you from deportation for 2 years. It was designed as a bridge program to the DREAM Act, nothing else. You may also have a work permit, an EAD, which allows you to work and pay taxes while you are not being deported. Neither DACA nor the EAD gives you any legal status nor a pathway to permanent residency, a.k.a. a Green Card, and a minimum of 5 years as a permanent resident is one of the main requirements for naturalization, a.k.a. US citizenship. In addition, you will need to prove that you registered with Selective Service once you became a Green Card holder, that you have never failed to file a federal income tax return, that you have not been in trouble with the law, and that you are willing to renounce any and all allegiance to your current country of citizenship and its people. Becoming a US citizen is a big deal, and it's not just like you sign a piece of paper. All that being said, if Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR) passes, DREAMers will have a direct pathway to permanent residency. When Congress will pass CIR is anybody's guess, but it will happen eventually.

What dream act? It's bogus does not exist and never did. What you have is DACA sorry to disappoint it's only a deferral of your deportation from the US and no path to a Green card let alone citizenship.
