How much does it cost to get a passport in Ghana?

  • I have a lady friend who's a citizen of Ghana and says that it will cost her 289 American dollars to get it done, is this possible?

  • Answer:

You are being scammed. The cost is $6.25 and takes about a month to process. http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/foreign_affairs/passport.php Go ahead and start sending money. The more you send the more she'll need.

It's another case of Nigerian Fraud - widely practiced financial fraud, especially out of Nigerian & Ghana. Don't send "her" a cent. You have a guy sitting in an internet café in Nigeria or Ghana scamming you. Cut off all communications with this person immediately & block them.

Your friend is a scammer trying to con you and 50 other lonely, gullible men into sending money As already mentioned. a Ghanaian passport only costs $6.25. If it cost almost $300 nobody in Ghana would ever get a passport And I am willing to bet you've never actually seen this 'lady' live on webcam, even though every single internet cafe in Ghana has webcams for Skype - or you'd know the pretty lady in the pictures was actually a 19 year old boy using stolen pictures of a model Read the US Embassy's warning http://ghana.usembassy.gov/romance_scam.html "United States citizens should be alert to attempts at fraud by persons claiming to live in Ghana who profess friendship or romantic interest over the Internet. Correspondents who quickly move to discussion of intimate matters could well be the inventions of scammers. If they are after your money, eventually they will ask for it." ANY time a person you meet online asks for money for ANY reason, it's a SCAM. There are NO exceptions to this rule. If you are asked for money, you immediately cut off all contact, report them to the site where you met, and file a police report if you were naive enough to give out enough personal information (full name, address, date of birth) for these criminals to steal your identity
