Can anyone give me information on alfalfa hay and oats hay?

Is it enough if i give the babies only mature hay.. i do not have any alfalfa or timothy hay?

  • the bunnies are only 26 days old..and they are not likely to eat mature hay..

  • Answer:

So they are not likely to eat mature hay and you want to give them only mature hay? Give them pellets... roughage = hay and grass... they need Timothy hay along with their pellets. You can give them some leafy greens sparingly and tiny pieces of apple. It is not hard to run to the nearest supermarket and get some Timothy hay. Or some grass from the garden and wash it/clean it properly. Just make sure you get Timothy hay soon!

Order hay online if it isn't available locally. Do NOT feed such a young rabbit any greens or bits of apple. It can cause digestive upset to such a young rabbit. Just pellets and hay -- both can be ordered on line. (try binkybunny.com) Young rabbits need plain pellets and either alfalfa or timothy hay (or a mix of the two).
