How do I stop a scratchy violin?

How do I stop my puppy from constantly whining and howling when I play the Violin?

  Well depending on his breed, it could be in his genes and VERY hard to resist. If he is one of those breeds he is going to be harder to break the habit of. I think you should make your violin time, his relaxation/play time. Buy a few kongs and brain toys that you can fill, ones that freeze last even longer. When you are going to practice, give him these amazing toys that are filled with stuff his nose CAN'T ignore. He will be so distracted by his nose and stomach, he won't pay attention to the violin. Buy maybe 6 good, long duration toys you can fill and freeze. Give him two every time you practice, and swap them out with a different two every time so it is always different and always yummy. Don't forget you can switch up fillings too. Hopefully this helps. If it doesn't, maybe get a hold of a dog trainer near you and see if you can ask them this quick question. They are usually willing to give a little advice, if they are a good trainer. Pay attention and be careful if someone jumps to something harsh right away though. If it comes to that then ok, but they don't need to start with a stronger force than necessary for this.
