Where is a good place to start kiteboarding in Los Angeles area?

I am a photographer moving to Los Angeles. What area is a fun place with other artists and actors to live?

  • looking to move to an area where other actors, photographers, musicians and other thriving industry professionals might be in the los angeles area.

  • Answer:

Perhaps it's like that where you come from. We do have "arts" districts, but they are more like that in name than anything else. For example, the majority group in Koreatown is... Latinos. Silverlake is an area with a lot of artists. Same with North Hollywood. But it just means that there is a higher concentration of artists there... they are not the majority.Actors are EVERYWHERE. There are literally a million wannabe actors in LA. It's like asking where to find sand at the beach.

There are many "art districts" around LA/OC which include mixed use space (work / living). This are generally modern designs with price tags to go with it. Some areas: Los Angeles Art District Long Beach Art District Santa Ana Art District Fullerton Art District NoHo Art District There are probably others that I don't know about. Photography is a VERY competitive. Good luck!! Add'l info: O-man (aka Captian O), have you spent any time in the art districts? To be included in the Santa Ana and Fullerton Art Districts you HAVE to be an artist. The Long Beach, Downtown, & NoHo spaces are not as specific but with the mixed use type units, that is predominately whatyou will find.

West Hollywood has a large concentration of residents who are in the arts. The city (it's an incorporated city) is one of my favorite areas of LA. It's upscale with excellent shopping, dining, clubs, galleries and is very gay friendly. It's almost synonymous with the art scene in LA. http://www.visitwesthollywood.com/?utm_source=yahoo-bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=WeHo%2FBrand%2B-%2BUS%2FCAN North Hollywood is a less expensive area of the city. It has some scuzzy areas, but it also has the NoHo Art District where the arts thrive in all forms. Could be just the ticket if you find an apartment in a good area. http://nohoartsdistrict.com/nohotours/

Skid Row (yes, there really is a place actually named that) close to downtown if you're into drugs and prostitution. If you opt to go north, then visit the Tenderloin in San Fran, or south to Balboa in San Diego...I hope you are already established or have a fall-back profession.
