How can I hook up my laptop (with no HDMI) to my tv?

I got my tv hooked to my laptop with HDMI, now can I hook my TV to a sound system? how?

    Depending on your TV spec it may not output audio from an HDMI source through the Aux outputs as the Audio on HDMI is multi-channel digital & the Aux outputs are stereo analogue. You really need to scour the owners manual for details on whether this is possible. Also make sure you are going from the 'output' on the TV to the 'input' on the amplifier. Many people try to use the camcorder inputs on the TV as an audio output, this doesn't work. If the TV has an optical output this is more likely to work but you will need an optical input on your amplifier. You may still have trouble if the optical connection sends out 5.1 & your amp is only stereo, some TV's will have a setting to change this. Alternatively, consider taking audio from the laptop directly to the amplifier. this may be easier.
